SMC'S "BARRICADE" ROUTER ROUTS COMPETITION IN BYTE AWARDS Byte.com picked SMC Network's "Barricade" broadband router as the best for the online magazine's year roundup of the Best of 2000. Why? SMC Networks announced it has received the Byte.com award for Best Router in its annual roundup of the Best of 2000. The Barricade Broadband Router enables multiple users to securely access a single cable or DSL Internet connection, and combines a 4-port 10/100 Mbps switch, built-in print server, and firewall for security against hackers and other unauthorized users. The Byte.com editors praised the Barricade's support of Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE), which can otherwise pose difficulty during installation of DSL connections. They were equally impressed with the Barricade's built-in print server, and security. For the juicier details, go here and have a feast.
